Make plans to attend Vendor Fair – April 25

The Schaumburg Township Council of PTAs annual Vendor Fair will be held Wednesday, April 25, at Frost Junior High School, 320 W. Wise Road in Schaumburg. The schedule is as follows:

5:30 – 7:30 p.m.: Walk through the fair in the school’s gym. Meet with potential vendors for fundraising, hot lunch, etc.

6 -7 p.m.: PTA communication workshop led by District 54 Community Relations Director Terri McHugh. Learn more about newsletters, websites, social media, the news media and more.

7:30 p.m.: General session in the cafe with information from Superintendent Ed Rafferty, the STC Executive Board and the Schaumburg Township Elementary School Foundation

8:30 p.m.: President and treasurer discussion group. This last session is a brief overview of what to expect in the coming year.

All District 54 PTA board and committee members are invited to attend.

Nominating Committee Slate

The nominating committee met on January 19, 2012 and respectfully selected the following individuals as nominees:

This slate has been respectfully submitted by your Nominating Committee members:  Debbie Anestopoulos, Kelly Hemphill, Lisa Reck, Lori Filby, Mike Scharringhausen (committee chair), Nicole Fentem and Ed Rafferty.

The slate will be voted on at the PTA Auction on March 16, 2012.

STC offers elementary scholarships

As part of its commitment to life-long learning, the Schaumburg Township Council of PTAs (STC) offers scholarships for summer programs/camps to District 54 students currently in fourth, fifth, sixth and seventh grades who wish to broaden their education, talents and experiences.

A limited number of scholarships for up to 50 percent of program or camp tuition will be awarded.  The individual amount awarded will not exceed $200.  All scholarship checks will be forwarded directly to the program agency or the camp.  Should a recipient not attend the camp/program for which a scholarship was awarded, it is the responsibility of the recipient’s family to reimburse STC.

Executive Committee nominations due Jan. 18

Schaumburg Township Council of PTAs (STC) is seeking nominations for the Executive Committee. Nominations are being accepted for President, 1st Vice President, 2nd Vice President, Recording Secretary, Corresponding Secretary and Treasurer.  To be eligible for nomination an individual must have served as a member of the STC executive board or as an officer of a local unit in the council or have attended an STC executive board/president meeting within the last three years.  The consent of each candidate must be obtained before their name can be placed in nomination.   Please submit nominations to Mike Scharringhausen at mike@freedomfastener.com by Wednesday, Jan. 18, 2012.
